The Montgomery Township School District provides an excellent education to our children, preparing them for their future life endeavors, be it college or career. Our platform believes in continuing to achieve this level of educational excellence. Our focus is on the following core priorities to reach this goal.
Our students are the future of our community, and our school district should serve those students to meet their academic, social, and emotional needs. A two legged stool cannot stand, and our students will not be able to thrive unless they receive appropriate support on all components of a well rounded education. All decisions we make will be guided by this principle.
Our schools need to provide a strong foundation in academics, while teaching our children life-long critical thinking skills to prepare them for their future. A robust curriculum that balances academic rigor with social-emotional learning encourages students to expand their intellectual horizons within the security of a supportive classroom environment. We believe in offering multiple perspectives to engage and be inclusive of our diverse student body.
Educators are trained professionals with the background, skills, and experience to ensure student success. All staff, whether administrators, teachers, or support professionals, play a vital role in our students’ learning. Providing staff the tools and resources they need, supporting their professional growth, and respecting their knowledge and expertise helps our students and schools.
The community plays a vital role in student success. A strong relationship between the school and the community benefits both. It improves student achievement and sense of belonging, develops family-school relationships, and enhances the district’s reputation. Fostering this relationship starts with the Board of Education and involves all members of our community: students, parents/guardians, residents without children in the school, and the staff.
The Board of Education needs to act with integrity, transparency, and accountability to provide for student success and remain fiscally responsible. A proposed budget must result from a strategic plan that balances the complex needs of the school district for both the short and long term.
We pledge to work collaboratively with parents, the community, the administration, and the staff to ensure all stakeholders have the opportunity to share their input and feel involved in the Board's decision making process. Our decisions on the board will consider the best interests of the entire community.
